Troute SMS Consent & Opt-In Examples

Examples of how Troute, an ExpiTrans product, obtains consent for distinct SMS messaging programs, including authentication, invoice and payment notifications, client onboarding, booking, and other service-related communications.

About These Examples

Troute supports SMS communications for Troute account users and for customers and clients of participating merchants. This page documents representative digital consent flows used for different Troute messaging purposes.

For recurring SMS notifications, consent is collected through a separate, optional SMS-specific checkbox that is unchecked by default. Providing a mobile number alone does not constitute consent. Customers may complete the underlying transaction, payment, booking, or enrollment without agreeing to receive recurring text messages.

For one-time authentication messages, an SMS verification code is sent only after the user affirmatively requests SMS verification through the applicable Troute security workflow.

Each consent flow is specific to the applicable messaging purpose and merchant relationship. Consent for one type of Troute messaging does not automatically constitute consent for another messaging program.

The examples shown below document Troute’s consent practices and do not themselves enroll visitors to this page in any SMS messaging program.

Troute SMS Consent Standards

Affirmative Consent

Recurring SMS consent is obtained through an affirmative action by the recipient and is not inferred merely because the recipient provides a mobile telephone number.

SMS-Specific Consent

SMS consent is presented separately from other agreements, including merchant terms, engagement agreements, payment authorizations, email preferences, and other communications preferences.

Optional Enrollment

Where recurring SMS is optional, customers may complete the underlying payment, booking, purchase, or enrollment without agreeing to receive recurring text messages.

Unchecked by Default

Recurring SMS consent checkboxes are presented unchecked and require an affirmative selection by the customer.

Clear Sender Identification

The consent disclosure identifies the participating merchant and explains that messaging is provided through Troute, an ExpiTrans product.

Defined Message Purpose

Each consent disclosure identifies the categories of text messages the recipient is agreeing to receive. Consent for one messaging purpose is not automatically applied to a different messaging purpose.

Message Frequency & Carrier Charges

Customers are informed that message frequency varies according to the applicable service or account activity and that standard message and data rates may apply.

Opt-Out & Help

Recurring SMS programs inform recipients that they may reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance.

Mobile Information Privacy

Mobile telephone numbers, SMS opt-in information, and messaging consent will not be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

Consent Records

Troute maintains records of SMS consent and opt-out activity as appropriate for the applicable messaging program. Records may include the mobile number, participating merchant, messaging purpose, consent source, date and time, and version of the disclosure presented.
